WHITE FLAG SHELTER

Cold weather can be life threatening for individuals without proper shelter. Prolonged exposure to cold weather places them at high risk for hypothermia and other illnesses. Street Reach operates a White Flag Shelter during the months of November through March when the forecast temperature is triggered:

Volunteers are at the heart of what Street Reach does. Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

Setup Crew: Assist Shelter Director in setting up for the shelter area for the night.

Shelter Host: Greet participants, check them in, assist with serving a meal and monitoring the shelter area until lights out.

Participant Pickup/Dropoff Ride Along: Ride with driver to pickup and drop off participants.

Overnight Hosts: Stay overnight to assist Shelter Director in monitoring participants and helping where needed.

Breakdown & Clean Up Crew: Assist Shelter Director in storing the shelter supplies and cleaning the area when shelter closes.
